Homemade Natural Sweetener

 So this is day three of our paleo challenge. So far so good! We’ve been filling out our points form nightly, and we’ve both done well. We’ve been eating real food and avoiding all the no-no’s, except for one. We haven’t found a substitute for Vanilla CoffeeMate. But we have a plan! For the cream, we are going to use coconut milk. Unfortunately, the only place I know of that carries coconut milk without carageenan or preservatives is Trader Joe’s, and they {Read More}

We’ve Gone Paleo!

  Today marks day one of the Paleo Transformational Challenge at our box, Desert CrossFit. And Tom is doing it with me! I never thought I’d see the day. But honestly, if I’m going to succeed in this, he really has to be on board. Otherwise, I will come home several times a week to things I would never buy on my own. Like Oreos, Coke, Triscuits, brie cheese… the list goes on and on. Today while he was at {Read More}

Sunday Features Link Party {13}

  Sunday Features {13} is Live! Hi bloggy friends! Welcome to our weekly link party where we all come together to inspire and be inspired. Once again, I had a blast looking at all the creative posts linked up last week. You girls are so creative!  Here’s what I was up to this week at Tabler Party of Two:  Cowboy Boots, Breakfast Tacos, &  Other Reasons I Miss Texas | A Legacy Worth Leaving | Jerk Shrimp Tacos with Melon {Read More}

Jerk Shrimp Tacos with Melon Salsa

Jerk shrimp tacos with melon salsa… yummmm! The pairing of spicy shrimp and cool melon is a match made in heaven. This combination makes a mean taco, but it can just as easily be served over  a bed of baby greens. It is very easy to make and is just as appropriate for a weeknight meal as it is for a dinner party. And shopping for all the ingredients was simple at Trader Joe’s! When I made this recipe this week, I worked on {Read More}

A Legacy Worth Leaving

 I’ve been thinking about my legacy lately. It’s so easy to get caught up in the chaos of the here and now, but, as the Bible says, we walk the earth for such a short time. So I’ve been pondering, what mark will Andrea Tabler leave on this world? Will it count? And will it be lasting? What got me to thinking about my legacy was a passage I read in the bible study I’m doing right now. The study {Read More}

Cowboy Boots, Breakfast Tacos & More Reasons I Miss Texas

It’s been a little over a year since we settled into life in the Southern California desert. And we absolutely love living here. But, goodness, there are some things I really miss about the Lonestar State! It goes without saying that most of all, I miss my family, my friends and the CrossBridge Community Church fellowship. But after living there for 17 years, I long for a few other Texas things as well. Here are the top six reasons I miss Texas.  {Read More}

Sunday Features {12} Link Party

Welcome to our 12th Sunday Features link party… your weekly place to inspire and be inspired!  I was out of town for almost a week visiting family and friends in Texas and returned on Tuesday. This week I shared all the details and inspiration behind the bridal shower I co-hosted last Sunday. It was simply darling!  Yesterday I shared my favorite Cajun gumbo recipe that I’ve “healthified” and made easy! I cohost this party each week with the talented Denise {Read More}

Cajun Gumbo, Healthified and Made Easy

This delish and authentic gumbo recipe has stood the test of time in the Tabler family!  Did I ever mention I’m from Louisiana? Yes, indeed, I am! In fact, we had the band play this little ditty at our wedding: I’m even listening to it while I write this post. In case you’re curious, here’s Hank Williams’ version!  I suppose my Louisiana roots are the reason I love all spicy, Cajun food. One of my favorite Cajun meals to make is gumbo. {Read More}

What I Wore

The California desert is such an amazingly beautiful place to live! The chocolate brown mountains frame our little valley. The skies are blue, the temperatures warm. The predominant style here is casual and comfy. One day recently, it was actually cool enough to break out my fave find this winter, this Betsey Johnson faux fur vest I picked up for half its original price at Marshalls (similar here and here). We headed to Keedy’s Fountain Grill (a real blast from {Read More}
