DIY Silverware Box – Tabler Party of Two

DIY Silverware Box — the perfect wedding gift that every bride needs!

DIY Silverware Box--the PERFECT do-it-youself wedding gift! Tabler Party of Two | TablerPartyOfTwo.com

If you are a regular to Tabler Party of Two, then I don’t need to tell you how creative and crafty my daughter-in-law and TPOT contributor Shandi Tabler is. This girl is always working on something A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!

This new project, like many of her creations, came about when she had a need. Shandi is never one to run out and purchase something if she can easily make it. And when she does that, it turns out WAY more awesome than anything she could have bought at a store! My store-bought silverware box pales in comparison to this cute piece of Shandi handiwork.

This DIY Silverware Box is so dang cute. Plus, it's such a perfect gift you can make — instead of buy — for the next couple you know who is getting married! It's so much cuter than any box you could find at a fancy store. Tabler Party Of Two | TablerPartyOfTwo.comHere’s how ya make it!

SUPPLIES
-indoor/outdoor (or acrylic) paint and/or stain
-paint brush
-wax paper or something to place underneath box while painting
-thin strip of wood (she bought hers at Michael’s in the wood section)
embellishments (Shandi used utensils and letters that spell “EAT”)
-gloves
-screw driver
-painter’s tape (optional)
-saw (or have your strip of wood cut to size at a hardware store)
-wood glue or hammer and finishing nails

STEP ONE
Use screw driver to remove any hardware on your box.

STEP THREE
-Prepare to paint and/or stain. Shandi painted the outside of the bottom of the box and the inside of the top of the box white.
-Plan on applying two coats.
-Shandi also painted the utensils and the divider pieces of wood white. (The EAT letters came pre-painted.)
-If you are staining, be sure to use gloves; otherwise, your hands will be sticky as well as stained for about a day.

 STEP FOUR
-If you did not have your divider pieces cut to size, do that now with your saw.
-Once they are cut,  either lightly glue the divider pieces into the box, or put them in place and hammer from the front and the back of the box with finishing nails. (Shandi used hammer and nails.)

STEP FIVE
-Allow the paint and stain to dry. Replace the hardware and put box back together.
-Glue on your embellishments.

Isn't this DIY silverware box adorable? What every bride needs! Tabler Party Of Two | TablerPartyOfTwo.com

And you’re done! Now you have a love and functional home for your beautiful silverware to live!!!

  1. Very nice update. I like the stencil on the inside that lets everyone know where each utensil goes. Thanks for sharing on Merry Monday. Pinned.
