Spicy Watermelon Margaritas

Watermelon Margarita

Summer is in the air! At least in these parts. Lazy afternoons by the pool will be here soon, and I have the perfect poolside beverage: Spicy Watermelon Margaritas. This concoction is not your average margarita. It’s a margarita with a real kick to it!

Spicy Watermelong Margaritas

It’s the perfect marriage of two of my favorite things: juicy watermelon and spicy jalapenos. With a healthy dose of tequila, of course.

Spicy Watermelon Margarita

If you’re not a fan of heat in your drinks, just reduce the amount of jalapeno. Or, {gasp!} delete it altogether. But I highly recommend you try it before you resort to a move that drastic.

This recipe is very easy to make. I used my Nutribullet and had these done in no time at all. Here’s the scoop…

Ingredients
  1. 1 jalapeno, thinly sliced
  2. ¾ cup white tequila
  3. 8-10 cups watermelon chunks; cut several into small cubes to freeze and use as ice cubes
  4. ½ cup fresh lime juice
  5. ⅓ cup Triple Sec
  6. 8-12 drops agave nectar (or more if you prefer)
  7. salt, chili powder, and lime juice for salting rims of glasses
Instructions
  1. Place small watermelon cubes on tray and freeze.
  2. Place watermelon in Nutribullet or blender and blend until liquified. You will probably need to do this in batches
  3. Pour watermelon through a fine-meshed strainer, pressing on it with the back of a spoon to get all the liquid through.
  4. Measure out 3 cups of watermelon juice.
  5. In a large pitcher, combine the watermelon juice, tequila, lime juice, Triple Sec, and agave nectar.
  6. Place salt with a little chili powder mixed in on a plate. Coat rims of 4 glasses with lime juice and dip in salt mixture.
  7. Fill the glasses with watermelon cubes or ice and pour Margaritas into glasses.
  8. Garnish with lime slices and jalapeno.
Notes
  1. My watermelon cubes weren't all frozen yet, so I used the cubes as well as ice. Next time, I'll make sure those cubes are frozen! They add to the cute factor.
