diy Pillow Covers

Patrick and Shandi are buying their first house! They have worked hard to save since they married just over two years ago, and we are so proud of them. This means my cute and crafty daughter in law will be making all kinds of fun creations that I can share with you here on Tabler Party of Two! Today I’m sharing her DIY Pillow Covers.

DIY Pillow Covers... so cute and EASY to make!

For those who sew (unlike me), these are very easy to make. And you only need a few supplies.

Supplies:
Scissors
Sewing machine
Sewing pins
Material (18″ X 40″)
A pillow (Shandi’s was 17 1/2 in x 17 1/2 in)
Embellishments (optional)

Step One:
Place the inside (wrong side) of the fabric face up. You will want to create a finished edge hem for all four sides of the fabric by folding each of the edges over ¼ inch two times.

First fold the shorter sides. Pin and sew.

Step Three:
Repeat and do the same on the two long sides: fold twice, pin and sew.

Step Four:
Sew on any desired embellishments. You can or sew on a cut-out shape, fun ribbon or anything else you want! Shandi sewed sequins to hers.

Step Five:
Place the outside (right side) of the fabric horizontally and face up. Fold the right side over 7”. Fold the left side over 16”. (Please note: these dimensions are correct for the size pillow mentioned in supplies.) There should be a 3” overlay created by folding over the fabric. Here’s how it should look when it is folded and pinned:

Step Six:
Pin the fabric on each of the open sides together and sew.  Then turn the fabric inside out. Finally, insert the pillow inside the cover and you are done!

Both of these pillow covers were made the same way. Aren’t they precious? I can’t wait for Shandi to make one for me!
