Glittered Pumpkin Centerpiece – diy

This Glittered Pumpkin Centerpiece is so easy to make and is the perfect way to bling up your fall decor!

Here in the California desert, it doesn’t feel much like fall yet. So I’ve decided to celebrate autumn indoors with some fall decorations. This week I set out dress up the ordinary and make a glittered pumpkin centerpiece for our kitchen table. This is a pretty simple project you can complete in one an evening.

Supplies from Michael’s (unless otherwise noted)

-Decorative white pumpkin
-Krylon Metalic gold paint
-Loose gold glitter
-Mod Podge
-Krylon spray sealer
-Martha Stewart Crafts pouncers
-Burlap
-Milk glass cake platter (Homegoods)
-Fall pine cone/pumpkin/berry vase filler (Homegoods)
-Green moss vase filler (I got mine from Target a long time ago)

This Glittered Pumpkin Centerpiece is so easy to make and is the perfect way to bling up your fall decor!

Instructions

Dip the pouncer in the Mod Podge, blot the excess on your paper and then stamp a couple of circles on your pumpkin. Sprinkle glitter on your circles, and continue around the pumpkin. I used the three largest of the pouncer sizes to create the look I wanted. While the glitter is drying, spray paint small pine cones and pumpkins metallic gold. Use a clean, dry foam brush to dust excess glitter off the pumpkins and spray to seal. Note: use Kraft paper instead of newspaper on your work surface, or put some white copy paper on top of the newspaper where you are working. I didn’t at first and I ended up with black smudges on my pumpkin.

Glittered Pumpkin

For the burlap runner, I cut a piece from a huge roll that was left over from my son’s rehearsal dinner. On each end, I gathered it and tied it with twine and burlap fabric.

To complete my centerpiece, I arranged the pumpkin with burlap ribbon, moss and pinecones on the cake stand. For the final touch, I scattered the small gold pumpkins and some paper leaves I had kept from one of my going-away parties last year. My talented friend Rachel photocopied pages of a very old book and then cut them into leaf shapes.

My Glittered Pumpkin Centerpiece is so easy to make and is the perfect way to bling up your fall decor! That’s it! A centerpiece that will last through Thanksgiving. With one project down, I’m thinking about what fall decorations to tackle next! What fall decorations do you have planned?
