Last weekend we loaded up the puppies and headed out to go camping in beautiful Temecula, California. As we were gathering everything we would need, I looked over to Tom and asked: “I wonder how many other 50ish couples actually look forward to taking their two dogs to camp in a VW van?” Well, we hope there are a few others because we had a blast!

Last weekend’s trip was a bit different from our other SoCal adventures in the van. It was chilly and super windy! But we still enjoyed hanging out at the beautiful campground and checking out the Temecula Balloon and Wine Festival (minus the balloons this year because of the wind.) One of my favorite bands, Neon Trees, was playing in the early evening. We danced the night away at this spectacular venue framed by mountains!
Before we headed to the concert, however, we spent some time just hanging out with the pups. I had brought all the fixins for our camping signature cocktail, the Piña Colada Sangria.
Here’s how you make this yummy concoction!
- One 750 bottle Moscato
- 3/4 cup Malibu Rum
- 10 ounces crushed pineapple
- Fresh pineapple cut into wedges for garnish
- Maraschino cherries for garnish
- Combine all ingredients in a pitcher
- Chill
- Garnish with pineapple wedge and maraschino cherry
