My Go-To Verse for Difficult Situations

Several years ago, I faced a situation I felt incapable of handling. It involved a difficult discussion I knew I must have with a friend, and I DID NOT WANT TO DO IT. In fact, I was filled will dread about the whole thing. This dilemma was so difficult that I knew in my heart that I simply didn’t have the wisdom to handle it on my own. It was obvious to me that to get through it, I must rely on God’s wisdom, not my own. So on the morning of the dreaded day, I opened my bible and prayed for the Lord to give me the wisdom and confidence I desperately needed. And that was the day He led me to this passage that I have gone to again and again since then. It’s my go-to verse for difficult situations!

This verse has helping me through SO MANY situations! It's a life vest straight from the Lord!

I believe God’s word is true, and his promises are real! That is why I meditate and pray on this verse time and time again when faced with a difficult situation. It is chock full of his truth and promises.

My Go-To Verse for Difficult SituationsI love that God starts out by calling me HIS. He refers to me his child. It makes me think back to being a frightened little girl, and how sitting on my daddy’s lap gave me peace and comfort that everything would be all right. My heavenly father adores me, even more than my earthly father, which is hard to imagine but true!

So like the little girl in her daddy’s lap, I listen to what he has to say to me because I trust his perfect love will guard and protect me. And just as I turned to my dad for wisdom (after all, he’s one of the very wisest people I know), I turn to the Lord for wisdom and understanding when I face difficult situations or hard decisions. He assures me that when I cry out and ask him for insight and understanding with all my heart, he will give me knowledge, wisdom and understanding. I take comfort in the fact that he will give me literally a treasure trove of common sense in those tough times. And on top of that… he is my shield, my protector.

The final lines of these verses just blow me away. He says that IF I do what he commands (seek his wisdom and walk with faith and integrity), THEN he will show me the right way to go. The best decision to make. The wisdom to face the tough things in life because of confidence in him. He even promises that wisdom WILL enter my heart and that the knowledge he gives me will fill me with joy! The Lord loves me so much that he gives me even more than I could ask for. He doesn’t simply fill me with his wisdom and knowledge (which is what I thought would be enough). He takes it a step further and adds a dose of joy to my day. And then he reminds me that the wise choices he puts in my heart will watch over me, and that the understanding he provides will keep me safe.

Do you trust God’s truth and his promises? He’s got the answers when you do not. He’s there and waiting. This is why Proverbs 2:1-11 is my go-to verse for difficult situations.

What is yours?

I am a visitor from Katherine ‘s Favorite Things Blog Hop. I have a blog but it is in the morgue for now as I have been fighting heavy intense pain daily. I am in the darkest period of my life but I am clinging to the fact that God Loves me and is with me even though I cannot feel or see him. I have a long painful tragic past that to this day is still haunting me. I am living with major regret. So I am very Thankful for you sharing this. Just what I needed. Thank You. May God Bless You Richly!

    • Karen,
Thank you for sharing your struggles! Two years ago, I was in the darkest period of my life, struggling with mild yet completely debilitating depression. I felt so FAR from God, but like you, I knew how much he loved me despite my lack of discipline to seek him. I’m praying for you tonight, that he will heal your pain and make himself known to him in a new and tangible way! He holds the key to release you from the chains of your path… xoxoxoxo

  8. This is beautiful and a great reminder to seek HIS face and wisdom.

  9. Beautiful verse and I love the graphics you made! Thanks for linking up at MeetUp Monday! Hope to see you tomorrow!

  10. Andrea, this is just beautiful! The Lord is strong and we need to lean on Him more often. I just came back from a ladies retreat in Lake Tahoe and it was a beautiful experience. I found your post on MondayBlogs via Twitter. Funny how all day, God has been placing little snippets of the Word into my life today, via blogs, social media, etc. I really needed Him. Thanks for sharing and it is nice to know and acknowledge another woman of faith!
