My Go-To Life Verses

What are life verses? They are God’s Word tucked in the heart, memorized and readily available in time of need. Simply put, they are a treasure.

My Go-To Life Verses. Why identify life verses? That’s easy. Every day, we encounter some mix of blessings and triumphs, difficulties and discouragement, anxiety and worry, temptation and sin. So whether we are crying out to God in pain or praising him for his faithfulness, we can hear his voice when we meditate on the verses tucked in our hearts or tacked to our bulletin board. His word can encourage us during our struggles and build us up after our successes. Hebrews 4:12 tells us that God’s word is alive and active. It is not outdated or ineffective. It is always there to lead, guide, and offer wisdom.

Today I want to share my own life verses. These words have been and continue to be such an important part of my life!

WHEN I’M FEELING WORRY AND ANXIETY
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 4:6-7 

WHEN I NEED GOD’S WISDOM AND PERSPECTIVE
If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you.
James 1:5 

WHEN I’M IN NEED OF HOPE AND ENCOURAGEMENT
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29:11

EXAMPLE OF THE WOMAN I WANT TO BE
She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
Proverbs 31:25

WAITING ON GOD’S TIMING
I remain confident of this:
 I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lordbe strong and take heart and wait for the Lord
Psalm 27:13-14

WHEN STRUGGLING TO LOVE OR APPRECIATE ANOTHER
Above all, love each other deeply because love covers over a multitude of sins.
1 Peter 4:8

HOW I APPROACH LIFE AND WORK 
Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 
Philippians 4:8

WHEN I’M INSECURE
But he said to me,“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 2 Corinthians 12:9

WHEN I’M FEARFUL
Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
 Joshua 1:9

WHEN TACKLING SOMETHING BIG
I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
 Philippians 4:13

  3. This is a wonderful collection. The verse I go to most often is Philippians 4:13…it’s been the one I’ve turned to since my college years whenever I’ve bee faced with a challenging situation.
