DIY Tissue Paper Flowers

DIY Tissue Paper Flowers are delightfully colorful, whimsical and budget friendly!

DIY Tissue Paper Flowers are so pretty, whimsical and easy to make! TablerPartyOfTwo.comI recently was blessed to create budget-friendly tablescapes for a Mexican Fiesta church dinner. Of course I envisioned fun bright colors for the seven dinner tables. Fresh flowers definitely didn’t fit in the budget. The perfect solution? DIY tissue paper flowers!

The beauty of the tissue paper flowers I made was the ginormous size… only one flower needed per table!Tissue paper FlowersSUPPLIES

-11-12 sheets of tissue per flower (for large flowers)
-curling ribbon (or any other thin ribbon)
-scissors

DIRECTIONS

Layout three to four sheets of each color of tissue paper for a total of 11-12 sheets. The color on top will be the center of your flower. I like to cut that sheet a little shorter width-wise. (Scroll down to image with puppy to see an example).

Begin to fold like an accordion with each section being about two inches.

Tie a small piece of ribbon tight around where you made the cuts.

Round the ends with your scissors. This step isn’t absolutely necessary. But it will make your flowers prettier.

As you can see above, I cut the yellow tissue shorter than the other two colors. I like the finished product a little better this way.

VERY gently, pull up the top piece of tissue. Try to pull primarily from the base (close to where it is tied) to avoid ripping the tissue paper.

Continue to pull up each sheet separately until all sheets are pulled up and “fluffed.”

big & Small

To make smaller flowers, Simple cut your paper shorter width-wise before folding.

cut center

You can make your flowers more whimsical and different. For example, the flower above with the pink center: I cut slits in the pink paper before I began the pulling up and fluffing.

These flowers are simply perfect for any fun party, whether it be fiesta or otherwise! Simply change out the colors to suit your theme. For the Mexican Fiesta theme, I found perfectly complementary party goods!
