A Darling diy Wedding, Part One

Most of the images in the post were lovingly photographed by my friend Lupita Martinez, owner of Images of Rain Photography in San Antonio.

Darling DIY WeddingI recently celebrated one of the greatest joys a mom can experience. The wedding of our son and the welcome of a new daughter! Trevor and Rachel, May 24, 2015. This (mostly) DIY wedding was extra special for me because I got to work hand-in-hand with Rachel in planning most facets of the event! We literally started planning the details the weekend Trevor proposed. They were living with us that summer, and we spend endless hours looking at dresses, venues and special little touches that would make this wedding lovely and memorable.

THE KISS!

Let me start by sharing that the day was magical. Perfect in every way! The clouds parted as Rachel walked down the long, grassy aisle. The Lord shined his face on this sweet couple through the sunshine that was truly a miracle that day!
The handsome groom!

A host of friends and family worked together to make the magic happen. Rachel made the tassels that hung from the gazebo, and her mom made the tissue paper pompoms that adorned the white chairs.

A cute and inexpensive DIY touch! Tissue Pom Poms.

Rachel created all the signage that was simply precious. Instead of bouquets of flowers, the bridesmaids and flower girl carried flower-adorned chalkboard signs with the verses of 1 Corinthians 13. So precious!
1st Corinthians 13 signs

Here Comes The Bride!

Love Is Patient chalkboard sign instead of the traditional bouquet! Each bridesmaid had a different sign.Rachel scripted the words in gold and white.

An alternative to bridal party bouquets! Love is Kind... each bridesmaid has a different sign. Other gold and white lettering could be seen throughout the venue.

Mr. and Mrs. Signs. So precious!!!Love the bride and grooms seats signs!

Guest Book & Seating Cards... LOVE LOVE LOVE the DIY touches at this wedding!

The groom’s and groomsmen’s boutonnieres were lovingly created by my dear friend Janis with olive leaves and herbs wrapped with dyed silk ribbon.

LOVE the Olive Branch Boutonniere!

Janis also created Rachel’s stunning bouquet and her olive leaf and floral crown. Lots of peonies, Rachel’s favorite! My mom made her druzy necklace.

This bride is GORGEOUS! I love her peonie/rose flower crown and bouquet. And the druzy necklace!

Rachel’s family and the bridesmaids spent an entire day making the cake in a jar. It was FABULOUS! (I’m going to share exactly how they did that in another post.) And the cake display was so unique and lovely, topped with the cake Trevor and Rachel would share.

The Cake in a Jar was really amazing and everyone LOVED the display! It's an amazing alternative to an expensive wedding cake!

There were so many other special touches at this darling DIY wedding that I can’t wait to share! Be sure to check back in just a few days to see them all!

Comments

  1. Such a beautiful day! Love all the special details!

  2. My eyes didn’t know where to look first! The Scriptures on the chalkboards are the most creative “bouquets” I’ve ever seen. And how doubly meaningful! And can be home decor after!
Is there a special meaning to using the olive leaves and herbs?
    Every detail is exquisite!

  3. Beautiful Bride and handsome Groom. Her bouquet is really pretty………and love the color she chose.
Great job by everyone who worked on this wedding and reception
    Blessings, Nellie
