7 Blog Post Ideas for Days You’re Frazzled!

Blog Post Ideas

You know those days (sometimes weeks) that I’m talking about. I’m currently in a little season like that. My youngest son is getting married in two weeks! I’ve been using all my creative juices on rehearsal dinner and wedding details, so — yes — I’ve been frazzled and in need of some inspiration. Here are seven of my favorite ideas.

1. Create a List. (Like this one!)
Ideas: List your top 10 favorite recipes/destinations/cocktails. Write your bucket list or reverse bucket list (things you’ve already done). List reasons to or not to… List upcoming holiday gift ideas. List ways to improve your marriage or parenting. List which bible verses have been most meaningful to you. List your favorite books ever, or faves on a specific topic. List possibilities, thankfully, are endless!

2. An Interview.
Ideas: Think of someone your readers would be interested in reading about, and then share your Q&A conversation. Think outside the box… a funny interview with your kid or a poignant interview with your grandmother.

3. A Roundup.
Ideas: Decide on a theme and then gather some of your favorite content and images to link your readers to. You’ll bless other bloggers by driving traffic to their site, and you’ll provide valuable information to your readers as well! The subjects could be favorite summer wreaths, salads, cocktails, crafts… to name just a few.

4. A Guest Post.
Ideas: This is one I’m thinking about for the next couple of weeks. Inviting someone to guest post saves you time, introduces new readers to each of you, and provides the perfect opportunity to get to know other bloggers.

5. Share a Story.
Ideas: Readers love to hear funny tales, interesting adventures, and stories from the heart. Sometimes your story will be a huge encouragement to others, or it just might make them laugh on a day they needed to!

6. “Get-to-Know-Me” Post.
Ideas: When you start out blogging, most readers know you. As time goes on and your following grows, you begin to have a larger majority of followers whom you’ve never met personally. Why not do a post to let new readers get to know you a little better? The post could be “Ten Things You Probably Don’t Know About Me” or “Twenty Facts about Me.”

7. Post a cheat sheet, a template, tutorial or printable.
Ideas: Readers love posts that help them teach them something valuable, save time and money, or just make life easier or prettier (think pretty printable).

  2. Love these ideas! So glad I found this post!

  3. Popping over from Keeping it Simple. GREAT IDEAS!

Hope the wedding is beautiful and special! Congrats!

  4. I seem to be big on making new printables and sharing them lately. I have learned I blog best when I have a week or so of blog post done. Then I also have a notebook to brainstorm for upcoming new post.

  5. I have been relying on printables too much lately, I like to make them. Thanks for posting. Hello from Motivation Monday.

  6. Great ideas! I’ve never really talked about myself a lot on my blog before, so that’s a good idea. Thanks for sharing!

  7. These are some great ideas. I know I haven’t done any about me posts in a very long time.

  8. Love these ideas! The interview especially. It’s going on my to-do list.

  9. These are great ideas! Thanks for sharing! Stopping over from Fluster Buster 🙂

  10. I love all of these, and have used most of them! A suggestion that I would add would be using a word prompt or photo for inspiration. I can’t wait to hear about the rehearsal and wedding details!

  11. Great tips! Thank you for sharing at The Wonderful Wednesday Blog Hop! Congrats on the upcoming wedding! Blessings to all!

  12. I round-up is an excellent idea! I have been wanting to get a few posts ready for while I am on vacation and this will be an excellent plan! Thanks so much for sharing!

  13. Great ideas for posts. Thank you for sharing!

  14. Thanks for all the great ideas! I am new to blogging and need all the help I can get! Thanks for sharing! I am visiting from Showcase Your Talent today.

  15. Stopping by from the Artsy-Fartsy Link Party. Sometimes real life gets hectic (as opposed to blog life) and these are great ideas as easy and fun “filler” posts. I find that my readers actually love the round up posts I do where I find cute craft rooms or organizing ideas and put them together in one place.

  16. Dropping by from Wonderful Wednesday Blog Hop!
Saw the title and had to click. Because some days I just get a little behind! I have one question: on round-ups: do you need to contact each blog owner & ask if you can use their link & a thumbnail pic?
Or since you’re directing traffic their way & not “stealing” their photography, is not contacting them permissible.
I’ve been thinking about doing a round-up, but wasn’t sure who to ask. Since you mentioned it…I figured I’d ask you! Thanks.
    Jennie

  17. Good ideas. I can never think about things to tell people about me.

  18. Great ideas! Just what I need.

  19. My go-to when I’m out of ideas is almost always photos, but I’m a semi-professional photographer, so that’s a pretty natural thing for me to gravitate to, and I take photos daily so I’m never low on ones to choose from.

I really like the interview idea though. I do think I’ll start implementing that on my photography blog. I know some pretty unique people.

    Visiting from Foodie Friends Friday.

  20. We have a whole lotta bloggers out there who loved your post. It was tied for most viewed on last week’s Wonderful Wednesday Blog Hop and will be featured this week. Congrats!
